In the 1930’s wealthy people would visit the Hoover Factory in person to purchase the latest state-of-the-art vacuum cleaning machine. They would get their Rolls Royce services at the Bluebird Garage on the Kings Road. Holidays abroad would begin at the end of the terminal building of Croydon Aerodrome and exercise could be found down the A22 at the Saltdean Lido. Holidays at home would be taken just up the road at the Ocean Hotel, or farther afield at the Midland, Morecombe. They would listen to the World Service on their radios broadcasted from Broadcasting House and read the paper printed in the Daily Express building in Fleet Street. Affairs would be conducted in Dorchester Park Lane and meals eaten at Claridges. This was the time of Art Deco and out of this time emerged Highbury Stadium and the rest, as they say, is history.
